Numeracy Block

Here I will show you what I do in Numeracy Block.

Four digits

Lately we have been learning about four digit numbers. This is a four digit number in numbers: 4 136 This is a four digit number in words: four thousand, one hundred and thirty-six. When we new it propley, Mrs J added the zero. We say and for the zero, like this: 4 106. There are some things we need to remember in the word version: the hiphen and the commer. We learn't it the fun way with games.

Dividedby Questions

See if you can answer these maths questions. Well we have 60 dividedby 3=180 and to do that you go 6 times 3 is 18 and put back the 0. You try some:
60 dividedby 5=
50 dividedby 8=
60 dividedby 2=
Well done. Answer them in a comment and I'll will correct you if you have a blog.

Angles

Today in maths we learnt angles. Angles can be straight lines or corners. Before we started learning about angles, we did some prior knowledge. Prior knowledge means share what we know about angles with the class. Then we moved on to the new learning, and learnt two new words which are interior exterior. Interior means the inside of something and exterior means the outside of something. Here is a picture of angeles:

Multiplication and Division

In school right now, we are learning multiplication and division. I would start with multiplication, because multiplication is the reverse of division. Multiplication is times tables and division is divided by. I find them challenging. Maybe I just need to practise my times tables. We practise them nearly everydayat school. Here are some sums. Can you answer them in a comment?

4x5=

20 divided by 5 =

3x3=

9 divided by 3=

Targets

Today we did a investigation. We had a target made out of paper and on it said A,B,C and D. We also had a 20c coin. We had to throw the coin and record where it landed. Tomorrow we will do it again but this time we will use a 10c coin. We will keep the surface the same which is concrete. We will also keep the target the same. Tomorrow, we will measure the distance the coins are thrown and how many coins on the target.

Borrowing numbers

Today on Tuesday the 26th of August 45J learnt how to borrow numbers. This is a borrowing sum. 440 take 362 = 078. If theres a 0 in the sum its 10. Before you do borrowing, you have to know 3 digit take away sums. When the teacher said " Or right. Lets get harder". and wrote a sum up on the board. I went "ah! I know this! because I had learnt it with my tudor,Clair.

maths

in maths at the moment we are doing fractions. fractions are something like this: three over four, four over eight, eight over twelve. we are going from easy to hard. first we were doing normal fractions, and today we did equivalent fractions. Let me show you what it is: it looks the same like a normal fraction excecpt it encluds more parts. I'm in grade four( thats when you learn fractions)

fractions

At the end of term one we were doing fractions. A fraction is if I had a drawing of a block of
three and I coloured two parts and that equals two over three and that is a fraction. Fractions are lots of fun. You can use different coulours and there are a few games to play like peices of pie and pizzas cut up.
